Gilbert E. Sousa
Beloved husband, brother, in law and friend;
Gilbert E. Sousa, 86, formerly of Lowell, died peacefully at the Academy Manor in Andover on Sunday July 8, 2018.
He was the loving husband of Kathy S. (Corcoran) Sousa, who survives him and with whom he recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 12, 1931, a son of the late Annibal and the late Mary (Brito Seixas) Sousa, he attended St. Patrick Grammar School and Keith Academy.
A member of the U.S Coast Guard, Gil proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Prior to his retirement, Gil worked as a Correctional Officer at the former Lawrence jail for many years.
He was a longtime member of the Lawrence and Lowell Lodge of Elks.
Besides his wife Kathy, Gil is survived by his sister Bernadette Daigle of NH; the Corcoran family in laws; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also the brother of the late Eugene Sousa and the late Theresa Sousa.
