James L. Powling

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend;



James L. Powling, 61, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of Elaine A. (Grigg) Powling, who survives him and with whom he recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.

Born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, September 15, 1958, a son of the late William B. and Elizabeth (Powling) Curtis, he received his education in the Lowell school system.

During his career Jim was a Home Health Care provider and previous to that was a shipping manager for Cobham Microwave for many years.

Among his several interests. Jim enjoyed horses, football but most importantly being with his family.

Besides his wife, Jim is survived by four daughters Heidi M. Hughes and her husband Joseph of Lowell, Jessica I. Gilkes and her husband Lionel III of Clarksville, TN, Kimbly A. Picot and her husband Orlando of Manchester, NH and Dakota J. Parmelee and her husband Michael of Franklin, NH; 14 grandchildren; five sisters Joanne Curtis of Nashua, NH, Jean LaMarche of Lowell, Arlene Curtis of Nashua, NH , Ruthann Santiago and her husband Jose of Providence, RI and Heidi Curtis of Lowell; two brothers William Curtis and Edward Curtis both of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
