Beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

 

Seabrook Beach, NH  - Barbara Marie (Burke) Glasheen, 88, of Seabrook Beach, NH passed away on Friday December 10 at her residence in Salem NH.

She was the beloved wife and college sweetheart of Edward A. Glasheen .  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2015 before her husband Edward passed away.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Helen (Ryan) Burke, Barbara graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro MA and went on to graduate from Lowell State Teachers College (nka UMass Lowell) in 1954.

Prior to her retirement, Barbara was a grammar schoolteacher in the Lowell School System for many years.

In retirement, Barbara enjoyed traveling, knitting, reading, playing cards, time with her friends and time in Florida.  She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Tampa Rays, Patriots and Dancing with the Stars.

Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.  She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and sharing stories while sitting on the porch at her beach house. She will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her five children Edward Glasheen Jr. and his wife Diana (Doyle) of Smithfield ME, Marigail Glasheen of Merrimack NH, Timothy Glasheen and his wife Jeanne (Tourville) of Pelham NH, Thomas Glasheen and his wife Susan (Finn) of Hudson NH and Richard Glasheen and his wife Carol (Leary) of Hudson NH.  She also leaves 9 grandchildren Kelly (Glasheen) Freitas, Drew Glasheen, Katie (Glasheen) Maloney, Thomas Glasheen Jr, Brett Glasheen, Molly Glasheen, Sarah Glasheen, Hannah Glasheen and Alicia Glasheen.  She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Nathan Freitas, Johnathan Maloney and Evelyn Freitas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

GLASHEEN – Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Visitation at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Saturday morning December 18, 2021 from 10 to 12 o’clock followed by her Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 12 o’clock Noon.  Her Committal Services will be held privately for the family at a later date.  E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, (BCRF.org), Suite 609, 24 West 44th St., Ny, NY 10036.
