Dorothy F. (Donovan) (Regan) Atkinson, 87, a longtime resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 10, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard J. Atkinson who died in 2013.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 19, 1934, the son of the late James and the late Natalie (Carroll) Donovan, she attended St. Margaret School and was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1952.

Prior to her retirement, Dot  was a Supervisor with New England Telephone and Telegraph (nka Verizon) for many years,  and later worked at former Town Meeting restaurant in Chelmsford.

For years Dottie, provided day care services to many local families including all ten of her grandchildren. She always enjoyed being an active parent, grandparent and great grandparent to her family including many summer vacations at the beach.

Dorothy is survived by four children Geraldine A. Hart of Westford, Richard J. Regan and his wife Kathleen of Lowell, Kathleen V. Donaghue of Lowell and David G. Atkinson and his wife Shauna of Merrimack, NH; ten grandchildren Rob Loucraft and his wife Mickie, Lyndsey Valcourt and her husband Jeff, Randy Loucraft and his wife Felicia, Rick Regan, Mike Regan, Chris Regan, Tori Donaghue, Gage Donaghue, Jake Atkinson, and Tyler Atkinson; nine great grandchildren Donovan, Kolbe, Charlotte, Genevieve, Nick, Olivia, Makenna, Noah and Summer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Monday morning May 16, 2022 at ST. MARGARET CHURCH in Lowell at 10 o'clock. Burial to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
