
EVANGELOS A. JEMISALIOS

Evangelos A. Jemisalios, 83, of Pelham, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his home. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 1, 1927, the son of the late Athanasios and the late Efthalis (Tzelepis) Jemisalios, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. A veteran of WW II, he served in the U. S. Army with the HQ 1st Constabulary Brigade and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Before retiring, Mr. Jemisalios was a department manager in the Commissary at Fort Devens in Ayer for over 35 years. Evangelos was a world class thoroughbred horse racing handicapper. He was known to be one of the few surviving members of Kito’s Coffee Club. He was also a member of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association also known as A.H.E.P.A. Mr. Jemisalios is survived by a niece Joyce-Bunny (James) Rourke and her husband Frederick K. of Pelham; two nephews Jon-Brad (Jemisalios) James, Sr. and his wife Gail A. of Pelham and Jed-Bob James and his wife Virginia of Pelham; seven grandnieces and grandnephews; and three great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews including his namesake, Zachary Evangelos James. He was also the brother of the late George A. James and the late Athena Stylos.
