Loving Wife and Mother
 
  Margaret M. “Peggy” Griffin Farley, 85, was called to the Lord on September 28, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Edward J. Farley to whom she had been wed for 56 years.  Her parents were the late James and Delia (Shalley) Griffin.  She was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her.
 
Peggy graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. Upon graduation she received a full academic scholarship to D’Youville College in Buffalo NY. Over the years, she was an active member of the D’Youville College Alumnae Association. Later, she earned a Master’s degree in Education from Boston University.  She taught for many years in the following school systems: Troy, NH; Marlboro, NH; Chelmsford, MA; Lowell Public Schools, and Greater Lowell Vocational High School.
 
Peggy was a dedicated parishioner of, first St. Patrick’s and later the Immaculate Conception Church.
A very intelligent woman, and avid reader, she enjoyed learning her entire life through LIRA (Learning in Retirement Association at UMASS Lowell) and traveling the country with her husband in the Elder Hostel program.
 
A loving and devoted wife and mother, Peggy is survived by her husband and seven children: Margaret Lombardi and her husband Norman of Tyngsboro, MA; Edward Farley and his wife Robin of Tewksbury, MA; Maura Farley and her husband John of Lexington, SC; Kathleen Vargeletis and her husband Richard of Ashby, MA; Sheila Gibbons and her husband Michael of Derry, NH; Daniel Farley and his wife Suzanne of Mooresville, NC; Thomas Farley and his wife Karlene of Lowell, MA.
Also surviving her are her 16 grandchildren: Allison and Steven Lombardi; Robert and Corie Farley; Grace, Rosemary, and John Farley; Emily, James and Brendan Vargeletis; Anne, Mary, William and Daniel Gibbons; Ryan and Elizabeth Farley.  She is the sister-in-law of Francis Farley, Lillian Farley, Sister Joan Farley SND, and Reverend John Farley SVD. Her brothers Daniel and Martin Griffin predeceased her. 
 
FARLEY – In Lowell, Sept. 28, 2011, at Saints Medical, Margaret M. “Peggy” (Griffin) Farley, 85, of Lowell, wife of Dr. Edward J. Farley. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST, LOWELL from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday. Her funeral will take place from the funeral home Monday morning at 10 o’clock followed by a Funeral Mass at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH at 11 o’clock. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery in North Tewksbury. Those wishing may make contributions in her memory to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 3 Fayette St. Lowell, MA 01852.
