Nicholas L. Koravos, Jr.

Formerly of Lowell, age 72
Mission Viejo, CA -- Nicholas L. Koravos Jr., 72, formerly of Lowell, died peacefully at his home in Southern California early Friday morning, October 28, 2011 after a battle with lung cancer. He was the husband of Elizbeth (Arguello) Koravos.
Nick was born in Lowell June 2, 1939, the son of the late Nicholas and Annette (Brodeur) Koravos. He attended Lowell schools and entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1957. After an honorable discharge Nick moved to California in the early 1960's to pursue a career in business.
With little education or training and a lot of ambition, Nick started as a rookie salesman for Republic Van Lines in Los Angeles. During his nine year career he rose to senior management as Vice President of Sales.
Nick and his partner Mike Lyristes left Republic and founded Lido Van and Storage in Irvine, California in 1972. With Nick as president, Lido grew to a major Allied Van Lines franchise serving the Aerospace Industry with locations from Long Beach to San Jose. The two also founded National Business Records Storage, an off-site data storage company. NBRS was sold to Iron Mountain in 2006. Nick and Mike were business partners and friends for over 50 years.
Nick enjoyed his play as much as his work. He was an avid golfer and founding member of Mission Viejo Country Club. A professional drummer, Nick played with several jazz bands in Southern California.
Nick also enjoyed traveling, and especially, his trips back home to Lowell to visit family and friends and play a round of golf at Nabnassett Lake or Vesper Country Club.
He also enjoyed getting married, which he happily did, four times.
Besides his wife Elizabeth, he also survived by his first wife, Joan (Birchenough) Koravos, formerly of Lowell, and three loving daughters; Lisa Fjastad and her partner Gerry of Rancho Santa Margarita, Dina Bantle and her husband Clint of Trabuco Canyon and Nicole McGrath of Idaho Springs Colorado. Four grandchildren; Grant, Nicholas, Tanner and Ruby.
He is also survived by sisters Eleanor Koravos of Lowell, Lorraine and husband Patrick Traficante of Sandown, NH and the late Claire Kungulus.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service to be held Thursday December 8th, 2011 at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH CHAPEL at 2 :00 P.M. His burial will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell. E-condolences/directions at odonnellfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME - 978-458-8768.
