 John J. “Jack” Moynihan, Jr., 84, of Dracut, but for many years a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, died Wednesday evening at Genesis Westford House in Westford, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor C. (Wilson) Moynihan who died May 9, 2011.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 10, 1927, the son of the late John J. and the late Frances F. (McCrossen) Moynihan, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
 A veteran of World War II, Jack served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Topeka and the USS Helena and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Area Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 2 stars.
 Before retirement, he was Senior Custodian with the City of Lowell School Department at Lowell High School for over 40 years.
 Jack and his wife Eleanor retired to Cape Cod where they resided for 17 years until moving back to Dracut a few years ago.
 He was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church while living in Lowell.
    Among Jack’s favorite interests were spending time with family and friends, playing golf and traveling. He combined those interests by traveling with his wife, Eleanor across the country and special trips to Ireland and Florida.
 He was a member of the American Legion Post 87 in Lowell and a life member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks.
 In addition, he was a member of the Irish American Club on Cape Cod.
 Jack is survived by two daughters Barbara Hickey and her husband Daniel of Nashua, NH and Susan Clinghan and her husband Paul of Merrimack, NH; three sons John J. Moynihan, III of Pepperell, Daniel F. Moynihan and his wife Karen of Lowell and William F. Moynihan and his wife Evangeline of Salinas, CA; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters Marguerite Patrick of Yarmouth, MA and Louise Kilmartin of Dracut, MA; a brother Robert F. Moynihan and his wife Eleanor of Deerfield Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
 He was also brother of the late Daniel J. Moynihan and the late James Moynihan.
 
MOYNIHAN – In Westford, MA, December 28, 2011, at Genesis Westford House, John J. “Jack” Moynihan, Jr., 84, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, beloved husband of the late Eleanor C. (Wilson) Moynihan. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 3 to 7 P.M. Monday. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at ST.
