Catherine R. (Meehan) Murphy
retired from Lowell School Dept.
Catherine M. (Meehan) Murphy, 85, a member of a well known Greater Lowell family, died Wednesday morning at Lowell General Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Murphy who died November 21, 2001.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, June 13, 1926, the daughter of the late Martin and the late Josephine (Ashe) Meehan, she attended St. Patrick Grammar school and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1943.
Before retirement, Catherine was a Para Professional for the City of Lowell School Department at the Bartlett School.
Previously, she worked for Hathaway Shirts in the mills in Lowell.
A lifelong communicant of St. Patrick Church, Catherine was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality of her parish.
Catherine loved her family and they her.
She is survived by a close cousin Mark Holmes of Lowell; a sister-in-law Shirley A. Meehan of Lowell; a brother-in-law Thomas Murphy and his wife Priscille of Naples, FL
In addition to her siblings and in laws, she was blessed with many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.
Catherine was also the sister of the late Mary C. Gendron, the Late Martin “Buster” Meehan and the late John F. Meehan.
MURPHY – In Lowell, MA, January 4, 2012, at Lowell General, Catherine R. (Meehan) Murphy of Lowell, wife of the late Raymond J. Murphy. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday. Her Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Saturday morning at 9 o’clock followed by a Funeral Mass at ST. PATRICK CHURCH at 10 o’clock. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
