
James P. Patsourakos

James P. Patsourakos, 95, of Lowell, a member of a well known Lowell family, died Thursday morning, January 12th at Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of the late Emelia (Saxsonos) Patsourakos who died in 2002. Born in Lowell, July 17, 1916, the son of the late Peter K. and the late Demetroula (Troubataris) Patsourakos, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1935. He then went on to earn a BTC Degree from the Lowell Technological Institute (now known as U-Mass Lowell) in 1939. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Patsourakos was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he earned the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star Medal. Before retiring, he was employed as a Chemist with the Derby Company, Inc. Previously, he worked at Pacific Mills in Lawrence. Mr. Patsourakos was a member of the Greek American Legion, Post #1 in Lowell as well as the Lowell Masonic Center and the Hellenic Cultural Society and a former member of AHEPA. He was also a member of the Leonidas & Sparta Pan Laconian Society of Lowell which was started by his father, Peter Patsourakos. Mr. Patsourakos is survived by two sisters Xanthe “Pat” Mangiavas and Frances Patsourakos, both of Lowell; two brothers Atty. Charles P. Patsourakos and his wife Lillian of FL and George P. Patsourakos and his wife Elaine of Billerica, MA; three special cousins George Scagos and his wife Pearl of RI, Cynthia Natsios of Tyngsboro, MA and William Scagos and his wife Barbara of FL; four sisters-in-law Beverly Patsourakos, Joyce Chingros and her husband Christos and Sophia Gramas, all of Lowell and Mary Suma and her husband Germo of Santiago, Chile; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. He was also brother of the late Vasilios P. Patsourakos, the late Mary Patsourakos and the late Ann Hatziolos. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday morning at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH of the HOLY TRINITY in Lowell at 10 o’clock. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery.
