 Joseph P. Hogan, Jr, 79, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell for many years and most recently of Dracut, died early Sunday morning, January 6th at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Roseann D. (Daley) Hogan who died May 19, 1989.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 24, 1933, a son of the late Joseph P. and the late Anna (McDermott) Hogan, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Keith Academy in Lowell in the Class of 1951. He then went on to graduate from Boston College in the Class of 1955. In 1965, he received his Masters of Education from Fitchburg State College.
 After graduation, Joseph was accepted to the U.S. Naval Officer Candidate School and achieved the rank of Lieutenant, J.G.
 Until his passing, Joseph worked for the Lowell School Department as an attendance officer over the past 15 years. Prior to that, Joseph was the Principal of the James S. Daley School in Lowell for over 25 years. He was dedicated to the children of the Lowell Public School System. Previous to working in the Lowell School system, Joseph was a math teacher in the Wilmington School Department.
 An avid New England sports fan enjoying the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots, Joe also enjoyed sharing his Cape Cod home with his family and friends.
 Joe was a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was always giving to others.
      He is survived by a daughter Jo Ann M. Campbell and her husband Steven of Dracut, MA; a son Joseph D. Hogan and his wife Ajchara of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren Micaelagh Rose Campbell, Shannon Katherine Campbell, Brianna Cherman Hogan and Connor Joseph Hogan; a sister Patricia Laurent of Lowell; he was also the long time companion and best friend to Janet Considine of Dracut and her family; and endearing uncle to many nieces and nephews.
 Joe was also brother of the late Sheila Hogan and brother-in-law of the late Louis Laurent.
 He will be remembered to all as a devoted family man and a true gentleman whose compassion, empathy and love of life touched the hearts of many.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass Friday morning at ST.
