G. Michael Demaras

 
 G. Michael Demaras, 85, of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts and Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Delray Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Kathy (Samaras) Demaras who survives him.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 10, 1928, the son of the late Harry and the late Hattie (Glover) Demaras, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1945. Following high school, Mike graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Management. He also graduated from the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
 A veteran of WWII, Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
 Michael lived a full active life for 85 years. He was a well known banker in the greater Lowell area for over 50 years. He worked for several banks in the area including Bay Bank, Arlington Trust and Enterprise Bank. He was a Senior Vice-President at Arlington Trust and worked primarily in Business Development.
 Mr. Demaras was a former President of the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, a member of the board of Lowell General Hospital where he served for over 25 years. He was a very active participant in the restaurant selection for the LGH Taste of the Town for 20 years. He was also active in several charitable organizations including Goodwill, March of Dimes, Catholic Charities and several others.
 In Michael’s younger days, he played the drums, was a member of the Musician’s Union and played with several bands in the area.
 He formerly held membership in the Rotary Club, Yorrick Club, Vesper Country Club and Long Meadow Golf Club. He was currently a member of the Palm Beach Yacht Club.
 In addition to being survived by his beloved wife Kathy, Mr. Demaras was the loving father of Michael G. Demaras and his wife Patricia of Lowell, MA, Mark E. Demaras and his partner Marcy Ashe of Stuart, FL and Atty. Matthew P. Demaras and his wife Jayne of Westford; proudly survived by his adored six grandsons Michael P. Demaras of Johnston, RI, Christopher G. Demaras of Brooklyn, NY, Steven M. Demaras of Boston, MA, Joseph E. Demaras, Andrew R. Demaras and Matthew F. Demaras all of Westford, MA; and brother-in-law of John M. Samaras of Lowell, MA.
 He was also brother of the late Sally Demaras.
 
DEMARAS – In Delray Beach, Florida, April 19, 2013, at Delray Medical Center, G. Michael Demaras, 85, of Tyngsboro and Delray Beach, husband of Kathy (Samaras) Demaras. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday. His Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Friday morning at 9 o’clock followed by a Funeral Mass at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (lower church) in Lowell at 10 o’clock.
