William J. Donovan, Jr.

Retired banker,

William J. “Bill” Donovan, Jr. of Groveland, MA, formerly of Chelmsford and Somerville,  passed away on May 30th after a lengthy illness.
He was married to his beloved wife Maureen (Scully) Donovan, formerly of Chelmsford, for 52 years,
Born on May 21, 1934 in Somerville, MA, the son of the late William J. and the late Gertrude (Babin) Donovan, he graduated from St. Clemens High School in 1952 and then began proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1960.
A graduate of Boston College in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Bill later graduated with his Masters in Banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in 1973.
Bill enjoyed a successful career in the banking profession for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, Bill leaves behind four children: William Donovan of Wolfboro, NH, Joanne and her husband Thomas King of Reading, Charles Donovan of Rollinsford, NH, and Patricia Gabriel of Beverly; 12 loving grandchildren.  Bill also leaves behind his sisters Thelma Donovan of Wilmington, Elaine and her husband Stanley Czesniuk of Arlington, Claire and her husband John Catalogna of Reading, and Nancy and her husband Victor Champlin of Exeter, NH as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jeremiah Donovan. 
Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at ST. MARY’S CHURCH in CHELMSFORD at 11 o’clock. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. E-condolences/directions at odonnellfuneralhome.com.
