Raymond Couilliard

U.S. Army WW II veteran,
 

Raymond Couilliard, 94, of Lowell, beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. (Cleary) Couilliard, died Wednesday evening at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell.
 
He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, May 1, 1919, the son of the late Madeline (Mahoney) Couilliard and the late Chelsea Couilliard and his wife Marie Louise (Duval) Couilliard, who helped raise him. He attended Lowell schools and Lowell High School.
 
A veteran of World War II, Raymond proudly served in the U.S Army as a Medical Technician 3rd Grade and was awarded the Good Conduct and Victory Medals as well as the European, African and Middles Eastern and American Theatre Campaign Ribbons.
 
Prior to his retirement, Raymond worked as a custodian for the Town of Pelham School Department at the Pelham Memorial School for several years. Previously, he worked at the Robinson Foundry in Lowell.

 Family was very important to Ray and he thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. More often than not, Gramps could be found cheering on his grandchildren at the baseball fields at Shedd Park.

An avid Red Sox fan, Ray enjoyed following the team each season. He always enjoyed his Saturday afternoon trips to Rockingham Park to watch the horses.
 
Raymond is survived by a daughter Sharon Abraham and her husband Richard of Lowell; three sons Raymond J. Couilliard and his wife Marsha of Billerica, John J. Couilliard and his wife Barbara of Edmonds, WA and Stephen M. Couilliard of Lowell; nine grandchildren Raymond Couilliard of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jennifer Cahill and her husband Joseph of Billerica, Darryl Kelley and his wife Claudia of East Longmeadow, Keith Couilliard and his wife Tanantha of Bothell, WA, Kimberlee Lentz and her husband Jud of Edmonds, WA, Kathryn Abraham, John Abraham, Thomas Abraham and Sarah Abraham all of Lowell; nine great grandchildren; a sister Doris Wessen of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
 
He was also the brother of the late James Couilliard.
 
There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated Saturday morning at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTON CHURCH at 10 o’clock.
