 Margaret P. (Salem) Mitchell, 91, a member of a well-known Lowell family, died Saturday, September 14th at Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Mitchell, who died June 2, 1978. 
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 31, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Fadwa Salem, attended St. Patrick Grammar School and was a graduate of St. Patrick Girl’s High School.  Prior to retirement, Margaret was employed as a Paraprofessional with the City of Lowell School Department at Lowell High School for over 10 years and was the Office Manager at her son’s dental practice in Lowell for many years.
 Among her many activities and hobbies, she most loved spending time with, and caring for, her large and rambunctious family, and she particularly enjoyed spending long, lazy summers with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at Seabrook Beach in New Hampshire.
 Margaret is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. McDevitt and her husband William of Lowell and Ann M. Maciejewski and her husband Edward of Seabrook, NH; a son, John P. Mitchell, DMD and his wife Jennifer of Dracut; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Mitchell of Windham, NH.   In addition to her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, she is also survived by three sisters, Florence Abraham and her husband Frederick, Agnes Mastrogiacomo and her husband John, and Theresa Mercier, all of Lowell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
 Margaret was predeceased by her son James F. Mitchell who died November 20, 2009, as well as by her sisters Mary Makrez, Rose Nader and Jennie Mullen.
 There will be no calling hours, but relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Thursday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in Lowell at 10 o’clock.
