Jean Marie Sylvester-Grigoriou

   Jean Marie Sylvester-Grigoriou, 54, of Lowell, died Thursday, December 5th at her home following an extended illness.
   Born in St. Mary’s City, Maryland, April 26, 1959, the daughter of Nancy (Cook) (Sylvester) Mello and her husband Robert of West Melbourne, FL and the late Vincent Sylvester, she attended Tewksbury, Massachusetts schools and was a graduate of Tewksbury High School in the Class of 1977. She then went on to earn her certificate as a hairdresser.
   Before illness forced her retirement, Jean Marie was employed as a cook at various local area pizza shops. Previously, she was a hairdresser at Debbie’s Hair Salon in Lowell.
   Among her many activities, Jean Marie enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing video games. Known to be very artistic, she loved painting.
   In addition to her mother and step-father,  Jean Marie is survived by a daughter Nancy Celado of Lowell, MA; a son David Batten of Allston, MA; three grandchildren Adrian Celado, Alecia Gonzales and Arrianna Cartagena all of Lowell, MA; three sisters Susan Sylvester of Tewksbury, MA, Lynne Dykeman of Lowell, MA and Bobbi Mears and her husband Martin of Crestview, FL; a brother Vincent “Jay” Sylvester and his wife Jodi of Palm Bay, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
   She was also sister of the late Paul L. Sylvester.
   Her graveside Committal Service will be held Monday morning, December 9th at St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury at 11:30 A.M. Directions at
