Roger Waino Ypya

 Roger Waino Ypya, 64, of Lowell, died Thursday, January 16th at his home. He was the beloved husband of Rita A. (Gonsalves) Ypya with whom he would have celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on June 24th of this year.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, January 5, 1950, the son of the late Waino and the late Annette (Houle) Ypya, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1968.
 A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Roger proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he was an honors student in mechanics and served in Germany.
 Before retiring, he was employed as a welder with Advar in Hudson MA. Previously, he worked at Wolverine Corporation in Merrimac, MA for over 30 years.
 Among his many interests, Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid gardener.
 In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by a son Andrew R. Ypya and his wife Chelsea of Manchester, NH; two grandchildren Hailie and Logan Ypya; his mother-in-law Rita E. (Rondeau) Gonsalves of Lowell, MA; his beloved in-laws MA; and many nieces and nephews.
