Leo P. Thifault

Loving father, grandfather and great grandfather;

 Leo P. Thifault, 88, of Dracut, died peacefully at his home Friday evening. He was the husband of the late Margaret H. “Peggy” Farley, who died June 4, 1997.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 10, 1925, the son of the late Pierre Thifault, he received his education in the Chelmsford, school system.
 A proud veteran of World War II, he served with distinction in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Sea Bees. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic –Pacific Medal and the Phillipine Liberation Medal.
 For over 30 years, Leo worked for Rutters and McCarthy Linen Service in Lowell where he was a Route Supervisor. More recently, he was a landscaper for U/Mass Lowell until his retirement.
 A quiet and gentle man, Leo enjoyed reading and the study of American history, Native American history and Military history.
 An avid Red Sox fan, Leo loved his dog Jake, woodworking, the outdoors, camping and fishing.
 A member of the East End Club, he was also a leader with the Boy Scouts of America with St. Jeanne D’Arc Troop 7 in Pawtucketville.
 Leo is survived by two daughters Nancy M. Doyle and her husband James of Hudson, NH and Mary Ellen O’Connell and her husband Chris of Naples, FL; a son Leo Terry Thifault and his wife Susan of Woburn; five grandchildren Daniel C. O’Connell and his wife Amanda of Middleton, NH, David M. O’Connell of Tulsa, OK, Kathryn E. Thifault, Kevin L. Thifault and Karen M. Thifault all of Woburn; a great grandson Hunter C. O’Connell; a brother in law John and Priscilla Farley of Dracut; his friend and neighbor Dee-Dee Idrais of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Lillian Goyette, the late Dorothy Grand and the late Gerard Thifault.

 Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday. His funeral will take place from the funeral home Thursday morning at 10 o’clock followed by a Funeral Mass at ST. MARGUERITE D’YOUVILLE CHURCH at 11 o’clock.
