Doris B. Murphy, R.N.

Retired R.N., 38 years with former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lowell;

 

Doris B. (Bellovoda) Murphy, R.N, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Sunday morning at the Courville of Nashua surrounded by her loving family.

She was wife of the late Raymond M. Murphy who died February 5, 2001.

Born in Laconia, NH, the daughter of the late Frank and the late Bertha (DeBlois) Bellovoda, she attended Cape Elizabeth’s Schools and was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School in South Portland, Maine. She went on to attend the Maine Eye and Ear School where she graduated with a Degree in Nursing.

Prior to her retirement, Doris was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell for over 38 years and was part of the group that developed the first IV therapy team at the hospital.

Doris enjoyed playing cards, camping but most of all being with her children and grandchildren.

She was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Theresa’s Church (now known as St. Marguerite D’Youville Church) in Dracut.

Doris is survived by her son Alan M. Murphy and his former wife Gail MacKenney of Nashua, NH; her daughter Maura A. Murphy of Boca Raton, FL; two grandsons Brian M Murphy of San Diego, CA and Kevin M. Murphy of Nashua, NH; a granddaughter Shannon E. Beatty and her husband Seth of Easton, MD; three great grandchildren Reilly, Wyatt and Holsten; a sister Helen Kowalczyk of Wayne, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday. Her Funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock followed by a Funeral Mass at ST. MARGUERITE D’YOUVILLE PARISH in DRACUT at 11 o’clock. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. E-condolences/directions at odonnellfuneralhome.com.
