Rita E. Gonsalves
Rita E. (Rondeau) Gonsalves, 80, of Lowell, died Tuesday, April 1st at Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus. She was the beloved wife of the late John Gonsalves who died March 8, 2006.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Alfred E. and the late Rachael G. (Martel) Rondeau, she received her education in the Lowell school system.
Before retiring, Rita was employed as a Supervisor at Marshall’s Distribution Center in Woburn for over 33 years.
Among her many activities, Rita enjoyed reading and loved spending quality time with her family at Winnisquam Lake in Tilton, NH.
Rita is survived by three daughters Kathy Gonsalves of Lowell, Karen Stopyra and her husband Andy of Lowell, and Toni Robbins and her husband Jason of Nashua, NH; six sons Kenneth Gonsalves and his fiancée Jane Mazerall of Lowell, John Gonsalves and his wife Reta of Lowell, David Gonsalves and his wife Allyson of Billerica, MA, Chris Gonsalves of Lowell, Michael Gonsalves and his wife Tina of Lowell and Thomas Gonsalves of Lowell; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother Maurice Rondeau of Manchester, NH; and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Rita Ypya who died February 25, 2014 and mother-in-law of the late Roger Waino Ypya who died January 16, 2014.
Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 2 to 6 P.M. Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Monday morning at ST. ANTHONY CHURCH in Lowell at 10 o’clock. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
