 Marion R. Mello, 86, of Lowell, died Thursday evening, June 5th at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, January 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles and the late Gloriana (Machado) Mello, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1946. Eager to further her education, she went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Lowell State Teacher’s College and a Master’s Degree in Education from Fitchburg State Teacher’s Collge.
 Before retiring, Marion was employed by the Town of Chelmsford for over 45 years as an elementary school teacher and later as a special education teacher.
 Among her many activities, Marion was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the Retired State, County And Municipal Employees Association Of Mass, Inc in Boston and the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality at St. Margaret Church in Lowell. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, embroidering, needlework and cross country skiing. She had a love for animals, especially her cats TJ, Shady, Cissy, Molly and Artie. She also loved spending her summers at her home she had built on Prince Edward Island in Canada.
 Marion is survived by her cousin and godchild Sandra L. Anderson and her husband William of Shirley, MA; their children Wendy L. Collins and her husband Scott of Townsend, MA, Sean D. Fleming and his wife Becky of Northbridge, MA and Kendra L. Fleming of Fitchburg, MA; her step-sister Joan T. Arcand and her husband Roland of Lowell, MA; their children Michael S. Arcand and his late wife Agnes of Hudson, NH, Paul D. Arcand and his wife Sandra of Dracut, MA and Ann Marie Arcand of Lowell, MA.
 She was also predeceased by her cousin and best friend Dorothy Machado Pillsbury.
 Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 9 to 10 A.M. Monday morning. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Monday morning at ST.
