John M. Samaras

John M Samaras, 75, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014 at Northwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lowell after a lengthy illness.

He was the beloved brother of Kathy Demaras of Tyngsboro, who survives him.

 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 26, 1939, the son of the late Stacy and the late Anna (Spyropoulos) Samaras, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1957. He went on to attend Lowell Technological Institute and Bentley College.

Prior to his retirement, John was an Assessor for the City of Lowell for several years. Previously, he worked as the Bar Manager for the former Windsor Mills Restaurant in Dracut for over 25 years.

John was also a former member of Longmeadow Golf Club and the Greek American Legion.

In addition to his sister Kathy, he is survived by his aunts Carol S. Kostopulos of Saugus, Helen Samaras of Lynn, Esther Anton of Salem, Bessie Samaras (Henry) of Lowell and also Bessie Samaras (Thomas) of Lowell; and several close devoted cousins and friends.

He was also the brother-in-law of the late G. Michael Demaras.
