Xanthe “Pat” Mangiavas

Xanthe (Patsourakos) Mangiavas, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on July 16, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of the late George R. Mangiavas.
 
Pat, as she was known to family and friends, was born on March 3, 1920 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Peter K. and the late Demetroula (Troubataris) Patsourakos.  She attended Lowell schools, graduated from Lowell High School and went on to Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1941 with her R.N. degree.  She furthered her education at Cornell New York Medical Center specializing in Surgical Nursing, and then returned to Lowell General Hospital where she was in charge of the Surgical Nursing Unit.
 
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, Daughters of Penelope, past President of the PTA of the Hellenic American School, on the board of the Hellenic Culture and Heritage Society, and a member of the Lowell General Hospital Nurses Alumni.  She was also a member of the Merrimack Repertory Theater, the Whistler House Museum, Brush with History, the Lowell Garden Club and several other civic organizations.
 
Xanthe is survived by two daughters, Diedra Mangiavas Wolfe and Pamela Mangiavas, a son, Richard Mangiavas and his wife, Sinceree.  She is also survived by a sister, Frances Patsourakos, two brothers, Charles P. Patsourakos and his wife, Lillian and George P. Patsourakos and his wife, Elaine, a sister-in-law, Beverly Patsourakos, three special cousins, George Scagos, Cynthia Natsios, William Scagos and his wife, Barbara, many nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
 
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Patsourakos, and Anne Hatziolos, two brothers, James P. Patsourakos, and Attorney Vasillios P. Patsourakos, a sister-in-law Emelia (Saxonis) Patsourakos, a brother-in-law, Dr. Basil Hatziolos, and a son-in-law, Attorney Herbert S. Wolfe.
 
There will be no calling hours.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday morning July 19, 2014 at 10 o’clock at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY, 62 Lewis St. in Lowell.  Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.  E-condolences/directions at odonnellfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her name to the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity Restoration Fund,
