U.S. Marines, veteran of Vietnam War

Arthur J. Leonard, 64, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of the City, died Friday morning surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Earline A. (Asselin) Leonard, his wife of 43 years.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 30, 1949, the son of the late Harold C. and the late Doris (Picard) Leonard, he received his education in the Lowell school system.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Arthur was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving as a Lance Corporal and was awarded the National Defense Service, Vietnamese Service and Campaign Medals as well as the Combat Action Ribbon.

Arthur worked as a groundskeeper with the Maintenance Department at U/Mass Lowell for over 20 years.

A true family man, Arthur enjoyed working outdoors and playing cards, especially Texas Hold Em.

Besides his wife, Arthur is survived by a daughter Tina G. Leonard of Lowell; two sons Steven R. Leonard and his wife Martha of Dracut and Jason P. Leonard and his wife Melissa of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren Elyse and Kyle Maranda of Lowell, Alicia Leonard of Dracut and William, Andrew and Matthew Leonard of San Antonio, TX; a sister Nancy Causey and her husband Ronnie of Calhoun, LA; two brothers Donald Leonard and his wife Marie of Dracut and David Leonard and his wife Patricia of Londonderry, NH; a sister-in-law Cheryl Leonard of Kenosha, WI.

He was also the brother of the late Larry Leonard

Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass to be celebrated Wednesday morning at ST. RITA CHURCH at 9 o’clock. Committal Services will be private.
