Well known retired Lowell Fire Fighter;
 


Donald F. Carroll, 91, a resident of the Belvidere section of the City, died early Sunday morning at his home with his loving daughter Janice by his side.
 
He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor P. (McCall) Carroll who died in 2006.
 
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 29, 1923, the son of the late William P. and the late Rita J. (McMahon) Carroll, he attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School, was a graduate of Keith Academy and was a lifelong communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
 
A veteran of World War II, Donald was a proud member of the U.S. Navy.
 
Prior to his retirement, Donald was a Fire Fighter for the City of Lowell for over 25 years.
 
A  member of the Lowell Retired Fire Fighters Association, he was also a member of Long Meadow Golf Club.
 
In addition to his devoted daughter Janice C. Carroll of Lowell, Donald is survived by his sister-in-laws  Dorothy Dwinell of Dracut, Kathleen McCall of Lowell, Phyllis Carroll of Chelmsford; his brother -in-law William Brophy of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
 
He was the brother of the late Louise J. Swanson, the late William Carroll and the late Mildred Brophy.
