Donna Elaine (Hire) Laferriere, 75, of Pelham, died Saturday, February 1st at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Gilbert L. “Gil” Laferriere, Sr. with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on August 5, 2014.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 9, 1939, the daughter of the late Ralph and the late Anna (Greene) Hire, she attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1957. Among her many activities, Donna enjoyed watching television, reading, traveling and was an avid animal lover. However, the most cherished thing in her life was her family to which she was profusely devoted. She was a longtime member of the National Shrine of St. Jude Claretian Missionaries and longtime contributor to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in honor of her father’s proud service to his country. In addition to her husband Gil, Donna is survived by a son Gilbert L. Laferriere, Jr. of Lowell, MA; a daughter Judith A. “Judy” Laferriere-Mank and her husband Ronald Mank of Hudson, NH; five grandchildren Jessica, Melissa and Kimberly Laferriere and Rachel and Joseph Mank; five great-grandchildren; two sisters Carole DeFrancesco and Anne Collins and her husband David all of Lowell, MA; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet “Buddy”. Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 3 to 7 P.M. Wednesday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at ST.
