Martha I. Russ
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Martha I. (Pratt) Russ, 80, of Lowell, died peacefully early Monday morning, February 23rd at Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, July 9, 1934, a daughter of the late Harry Joseph and the late Myrtle Esther (Glennon) Pratt, she attended Everett schools and was a graduate of Everett High School. Following high school, Martha enlisted in the United States Air Force where she proudly served her country. After her honorable discharge, she went on to attend and graduate from college earning a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Before retiring, Martha was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at various nursing homes throughout the Merrimack Valley. After retirement, she was a volunteer in many different capacities at Lowell General Hospital. Among her many activities, being a member of many book clubs and a collector of books, she was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and loved surfing the Internet. She also had a massive collection of dolls. However, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her loving family. Martha is survived by a daughter Donna L. Guilfoyle and her husband Richard; two sons Denny McCarthy and Dana Russ; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was also mother of the late Edward Russ who died in 2008. In keeping in accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours and all Funeral Services will be held privately.
