Katherine (Bozas) Morris

Most beloved, mother, grandmother and grandmother;

        It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our most beloved Katherine (Bozas) Morris, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at The Life Care Center in Billerica, MA.  Our dearest mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was the most selfless, caring, compassionate, giving, and loving woman known to her family and to everyone she knew, and for that we are filled with tremendous sorrow and loss.  The precious legacy she created in her entire lifetime was one of the most unconditional love and the most wonderful memories.   The warmest feelings of comfort and safety she provided for her family and close friends are indescribable, immeasurable, and inimitable.  And for that we are forever grateful that God blessed us with her for all these precious years.
          Katherine was born in 1924 in the whaling city of New Bedford, MA to Greek immigrant parents, her dearest mother Mary (Alevizos) Bozas, whom she was utterly devoted to throughout her entire life, and her father, Stratis Bozas.
    She began a long career as a most dependable saleswoman at Sears Robuck, and retired from the company after many years.
      Katherine was a devout and proud practitioner of the Greek Orthodox faith and culture and a long time member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, originally in New Bedford, MA. and later on after moving with her family to Westford, MA, a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.
          Katherine was the most devoted and proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her one treasured child and daughter, Maryann (Morris) Proyous and son in law Dean J. Proyous, presently of Westford, MA and her only granddaughter, Andrea (Proyous) Shortsianitis and her husband, Alec Shortsianitis of Tyngsboro, MA and her four great- grandchildren, Theodora-Violet, William-Dean, Maryssa-Kate, and Elisabeth-Scarlet.  They all brought her the most joy and meaning and lit up her life in the brightest of ways!
           To those who knew Katherine in any and every stage of her life, she will be most remembered for her immeasurable strength, her hard work, her generosity, her selflessness, and even her love of music, dancing, and classic movies, but above all her most purely and unconditionally loving, beautiful and sacrificing heart.  There was nothing Katherine would not do for or give to her family.  This spirit of kindness she had was strong enough to transcend the many mental and physical disabilities that Alzheimer’s Disease caused her in order to still be able to touch others in unforgettable ways.  Katherine loved many and this love she gave was the biggest and most accepting love, one that cannot be matched nor even described adequately enough.
          Katherine’s beautiful spirit was felt and appreciated in her last stage of life by her most special caretakers at the Life Care Center, where she resided for the past eight years.  Her daughter Maryann witnessed this most skilled staff, specifically of the Alzheimer’s Unit, every single day, in different ways and capacities, participating in Katherine’s care with the most unwavering dedication and compassion.  All of Katherines’caregivers physically and mentally enriched and prolonged her life more than we could have ever prayed for.  Without a doubt, she felt so loved and so comforted by them and because of that she was able to thrive as long as she had.  Katherine’s family sincerely expresses their most profound gratitude and love to Katherine’s caregivers who also provided for them a kind of peace of mind that reassured them that she was as healthy, comfortable, and happy as possible, especially during her passing. Her family will always consider Katherine’s helpers our angels on Earth, even now as our dearest Katherine’s soul has entered into heaven.  Each and every one of these special people will never be forgotten and will always have a special place in our hearts.
