Bartholomew F. “Bart” Ryan

Loving husband, father and grandfather, 83
 
 Bartholomew F. “Bart” Ryan, 83, of Lowell, a member of a well known Highlands family, died Tueday May 19th at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Kierce) Ryan who survives him and with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on May 28th of this year.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, December 1, 1931, the son of the late William R. and the late Frances (Parker) Ryan, he attended St. Patrick Grammar School in Lowell and was a graduate of Keith Academy in the Class of 1948.
 A disabled veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bart proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
 Before retiring, Bart was employed as a Lineman with Verizon, previously known as New England Telephone for over 40 years.
 Among his many activities, Bart was a former member of BPOE #87 Lowell Lodge of Elks as well as a member of the American Legion Post #87, the VFW Post #662 and the Knights of Columbus.
 In addition to his wife Joan, Bart is survived by a son William R. Ryan of Harwich, MA; a granddaughter Brianna Joy Ryan of San Diego, CA; three sisters Sister Margaret Ryan, SND of Worcester, MA, Ellen Woods of Northboro, MA and Suzanne Ryan also of Northboro, MA; his brother -in-law Ronald F. Kierce of Dennis MA; and many nieces and nephews.
 He was also father of the late Paul W. Ryan who died May 6, 1989 and brother of the late Sister Mary Ryan, SND, the late Sister Alice Ryan, SND and the late Frances Durkin and her late husband Harold Durkin.
 Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated Wednesday morning at ST. MARGARET CHURCH in Lowell at 10:30 o’clock.
