Mary K. Fitzgerald
Mary K. (Keefe) Fitzgerald, 77, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on July 26th at the Atrium in North Chelmsford with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William Fitzgerald. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, August 31, 1937, the daughter of the late John J. and the late Margaret (Mahoney) F. Keefe, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1955. Mary was employed for over 40 years at the Middlesex County Bank and later retired from Bay Bank in Lowell. An active member of St. Margaret Church, she was a participating member of the parish Blessed Virgin Sodality. She was a very active lady, being an ardent member of the Red Hat Society, volunteering at both the Lowell General Hospital and former St. John’s Hospital gift shops for many years. She loved to knit, especially at the Lowell Senior Center. She was an artist of Japanese Bunka and did lovely ceramic pieces. Mary is survived by her sister, Carol Staunton of Nashua, N.H., her nieces, Kara Staunton-Shron and her husband Jason Shron and her children, Sophie, Matthew and Jacob of Great Barrington, MA, Erin Horne and her husband James Horne and her twin sons, RJ and Johnny, of Milton, MA. She is also survived by her step-children, William Fitzgerald, Helen Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald and Anne Fitzgerald, and her dear friends Mary Abraham, Kathy Quinn, Sheila Hardy, and Maureen Cohen.
Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at ST. MARGARET CHURCH at 10 o'clock.
