Dorothy T. (Maloney) Paton
Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother;
Dorothy T. (Maloney) Paton, 88, a member of a well known Greater Lowell family, died Tuesday October 13th 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Life Care Center in North Billerica surrounded by her loving family.
She was the loving wife for 65 years of the late Thomas J. Paton, Sr. who died October 4, 2013.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 21, 1927, the daughter of the late M. Joseph and the late Mildred (Gibson) Maloney, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1944 where she also served as a member of the Girl Officers. Dorothy went on to graduate from Lowell Commercial College.
Prior to her retirement in 1996, Dorothy was an Accounts Receivable Clerk at U/Mass Lowell.
Previously, she worked at Sears Roebuck in Lowell for over 28 years.
A lifelong communicant of St. Margaret’s Church, she was a former Vice Prefect/member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality and Eucharistic Minister of her parish.
A volunteer at Lowell General Hospital, Dorothy also served as a Democratic Delegate for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Dorothy enjoyed doing needlepoint but her true joy was the time she spent being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by five sons Thomas J. Paton, Jr. and his wife Linda of Derry, NH, Michael A. Paton and his wife Marjorie of Northfield, MA, Mark A. Paton of Lowell, Kevin S. Paton and his wife Lisa of North Chelmsford, and Neil F. Paton and his wife Rose of Dracut; nine grandsons and three granddaughters; three great grandsons; two sister in laws Agnes “Nancy” Melancon of Dunstable and Penney (Maloney) Detchon of Trumbell, CT ; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Joseph Maloney and the late Jack Maloney.
Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Tuesday morning at ST. MARGARET CHURCH at 10 o’clock. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
