 Thomas P. Conlon, Jr.

Retired Lieutenant, Lowell Police Department

Thomas P. Conlon, Jr., 80, a lifelong Lowell resident, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 8, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy E. (Trickett) Conlon, who survives him and with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on Nov. 4, 2015.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on Feb. 11, 1935, the son of the late Thomas P. and the late Catherine (O’Connor) Conlon, he attended St. Patrick Boy’s School and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1952.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Seaman with the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University in Boston.

Among his many activities, Tom was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Golf Club, where he was also a past president. He also enjoyed bird watching and vacationing with his family at York Beach, Maine, and enjoyed special trips to Prince Edward Island with Dorothy. A big fan of the New England Patriots, he also had a passion for college basketball and absolutely loved the Montreal Canadiens. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the East End Club, and the Retired Police Officers Organization in Lowell.
Very proud of his Irish heritage, Tom also was a proud and moral man who believed that education was extremely important in one’s life.

I never worked here with MR CONLON and only knew him oustide of police work as a fellow irishman and Acre boy. Of those who worked with him, they all tell me what a fine, fair gentleman he was on the job. More than one describe him as a Cops cop, someone who was always willing to help a brother police officer whenever they needed it. When I tell them that i knew him and his family there is nothing but good things to say. Our heartfelt condolences to the Conlon family. You were always a great family.
