Gerald M. Brewster

1953-2017

Rest in Peace

Gerald ”Gerry” M. Brewster passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 1, 2017. He was 63 years old.
Born in Wichita, Kansas on November 7, 1953 to the late Helene (Payton) Brewster and the late Emmett Brewster,  he grew up in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Upon graduation from high school, he operated a successful roofing business, Fairmount Roofing, throughout the 1980’s until its closure.  Always having an interest in cars, Gerry then worked for a short time at several car dealerships in the Merrimack Valley area.
In 2015, Gerry co-authored a memoir “Why, Brother Why? ” about his experiences of addiction. This memoir was a cathartic journey for him in which he hoped would offer encouragement and support to others in the same recovery battle.
All that knew Gerry, knew of his sense of humor and unstoppable impulse for a good laugh. He was an avid sports fan, who never failed to place a “wager” on his favorite team. Gerry will be remembered for his colorful personality, tough presence and kind heart.
He is survived by his only son, Michael McNulty of Dracut, two grandchildren, Sean and Kyle McNulty of Dracut, his brother, Bruce and his wife Rosemary (Quinlan), his nephew, Connor Brewster, and niece, Anarose Brewster all of Lowell, and his special friend and companion of many years, Karen DiPietro of Chelmsford, as well as many lifelong friends in the Lowell and Boston area.
In following his wishes, calling hours have been omitted and a private Funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of his family.  E-condolences at
www.odonnellfuneralhome.com. Those wishing to make a donation in Gerry’s memory may do so to Zack’s Team Foundation. (www.zacksteam.org). Arrangements by the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME – (978) 458-8768.

I would like to give my condolences to his family and close friends. Gerry was always so kind. He enjoyed just getting together for coffee. He loved when I took my cat outside in the cat stroller. He was such a Sweetheart. This was all such a huge shock to me. I already miss him but know that he is at peace. No more worries Gerry. I will miss walking around with you at the Folk Festival this year. So sad and so young. (God Speed,)that's what you wrote in the book you gave me! I will think of you every day and wish you were still here. Good bye good friend until we meet again.
