Paul Panagopoulos, Sr.


 Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle
 
    Paul Panagopoulos, Sr., 83, of Dracut, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 6th surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lillian S. (Ghareeb) Panagopoulos who survives him and with whom he recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on January 22nd.
    Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 9, 1934, a son of the late Nicholas and the late Martha (Petroulos) Panagopoulos, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1954.
    A veteran of the Vietnam War era, Paul proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.
    Before retiring, Paul was employed at Design Lighting in Andover for over 7 years. Previously, he worked at Honeywell in Lawrence as a computer technician for over 24 years.
    Among his many interests, he enjoyed spending time with his family, meeting with his friends over a cup of coffee and traveling. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he also served as a parish council member. In addition, he was active with St. George Antiochian Church as Teen Group Director, parish council member and a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Masons and Aleppo Shriners.
    Paul is survived by two daughters Martha E. Stewart and Lisa V. Panagopoulos and her friend and former husband Alexander Verras all of of Dracut; a son Paul Panagopoulos, Jr. and his wife Christine of Lowell; eight grandchildren April Stewart of Los Angeles, CA, Sara Stewart  and her partner Jonathan Barron of Littleton, Andrew, Kristina, Paul and Steven Verras all of Dracut, and Lily Ann and Nicholas Panagopoulos both of Lowell; a great-granddaughter Sophia Stewart of Littleton;  two brothers George Panagopoulos and his wife Jennie of Dracut and Theodore Panagopoulos and his wife Elaine of Pelham, NH; three godchildren Joanne Kyricos, Sandra Tgibides and Roberta Shea; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was also brother of the late Angie Couris, Anthony Panagopoulos, Charles Panas, Louie Panagopoulos, William Panas, Helen Shea, Jennie Fafalios and Margaret Tgibides.
    Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. on Saturday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service to be celebrated immediately following visitation at the HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH in Lowell at 12:30 o'clock.
