Diane E. (Pronovost) Dolce, 87, a lifelong resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, died Wednesday, March 21st at Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred R. Dolce who died March 28, 2006.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, May 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Raymond and the late Marion (Irwin) Pronovost, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1948.
Before retiring, Diane was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at Heritage Nursing Home. Previously, she was a homemaker, raising her four daughters for many years.  She was a kind, nurturing person with a good sense of humor and a quick Irish wit. She enjoyed cooking, camping, traveling, square dancing, tending to her house plants and taking care of her many pets. She loved decorating for the holidays and hosting holiday dinners, especially Christmas Eve when she served her famous lasagna. She was also an avid Red Sox fan. However, her greatest joy was her family. She cherished the quality time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Diane is survived by four daughters Lynne E. Dolce-Brouwer and her husband Ron Brouwer of Chicago, IL, Marcia A. Dolce and her companion Patrick McNally of South Hamilton, MA, Susan E. Dolce of Lowell, MA and Mary L. Dolce and her companion Brian Provencher of Amherst, NH; seven grandchildren Jessica Spanos and her husband Charles of Midlothian, VA, Michelle Omowaiye of Richmond, VA, Julianne and Robert Hilton both of Amherst, NH and Sophia, Caroline and Daniel Brouwer all of Chicago, IL; three great-grandchildren Charles and Adelia Spanos and Jaxson White; a brother John Pronovost and his wife Carol of Chelmsford, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday, March 30th. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service to be celebrated on Saturday morning at ST. JOHN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 260 Gorham St. in Lowell at 10 o’clock followed by burial in Westlawn Cemetery. E-condolences/directions at

    Aunt Diane was a wonderful nurturing loving and kind woman. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. Always looked for the goodness in people. She was adored by all. It is sad that I cannot attend any services do to my recent hip surgery. But I send my love and my condolences to all the family.
