Rose (Ladolcetta) Maiello

 Rose (Ladolcetta) Maiello, 85, of Lowell, died Tuesday, April 10th at Northwood Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas R. Maiello who died in 1998.
 Born in Brooklyn, New York, November 21, 1932, the daughter of the late Rocco and the late Santa (Musumeci) Ladolcetta, she attended Brooklyn schools and was a graduate of Bay Ridge High School in the Class of 1949.
 Before retiring, Rose was employed as a Cook at various local schools.
 Among her many activities, she was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards and bingo. She loved dancing and music of the 40’s. She was also a former member of the Port St. Lucie Lodge of Elks in Florida.
 In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service to be celebrated on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018 at NEW ENGLAND BIBLE CHURCH, 60 Chandler Road in Andover at 10 o’clock. Retired Executive Director of LRTA, former State Representative, Governor’s Councilor, Mayor and Lowell City Councilor;

    Robert B. Kennedy, 78, a well-known Lowell resident making his home in the Belvidere section of the City, died Tuesday afternoon at his home. He was the beloved husband of Janet V. (Wajda) Kennedy with whom he had recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
    Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, February 6, 1940, he was the son of the late Leo J. and the late Mary (White) Kennedy. Bob attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1958 where he was captain of the LHS golf team.
    Bob went on to attend Bentley University where he received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Finance and then attained his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and Business Administration from Lowell Technological Institute (NKA U/Mass Lowell).
    Over a career that spanned some four decades in both the public and private sector, Bob was a dedicated public servant whom served with distinction his City, his constituents, his neighbors and friends.
    In the private sector, Bob began his career as Licensed Technician for both American and Trans World Airlines, an Account Manager for Vespa of American Corporation, and a Business Manager for New England L.N.G. Corporation (Transgas).
    In the public sector, he began his career when he was elected to the Lowell City Council in 1971 and served til 1975, then returning from 1981 to 1985 and later from 1988 to 1990. During that time Bob also served the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 46th Middlesex District from 1975 to 1979 and as the Mayor of the City of Lowell from 1986 to 1987. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Governor’s Council – 5th District from 1989 to 1995 and served as the Economic Development Director for the 5th Congressional District.
  Prior to his retirement, Bob served as the Executive Director/Administrator of the Lowell Regional Transit Authority for ten years where he oversaw the infrastructure of public transportation throughout the Merrimack Valley.
    Active in his community, Bob formerly served on the Board of Directors of Greater Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, Family Services of Greater Lowell, the Lowell Plan, and Long Meadow Country Club. He also served as the former Commissioner of the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission, Treasurer of the City of Lowell Development Authority and former Chairman of Greater Lowell Cancer Society, YMCA Building Fund, Greater Lowell Heart Fund and the United Way.
    Bob loved his family, his life-long “Hat Rack” friends and his Irish heritage, but above all, he loved Lowell. We celebrate all that he did, his passion, his fight, his sense of humor and a life well-lived.
    In addition to his wife Janet, Bob is survived by two daughters Katherine E. Kennedy of New York, NY and Eleanor F. Kennedy of Boston, MA; a sister Ann M. Kennedy of Brighton, MA; and many close cousins, nieces and nephews.
        Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday morning at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in Lowell at 11 o’clock followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury. Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt

 Kathryn “Kay” (Kenefick) McPhillips, R.N., 90, a member of a well-known Lowell family, and of Deltona, FL and Hampton Beach, NH, died Tuesday, May 1st at D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis P. McPhillips who died in 1985.
 Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Archie E. and the late Margaret (Sullivan) Kenefick, she attended the Academy of Notre Dame Grammar School and was a graduate the Academy Notre Dame in Tyngsboro. Eager to pursue a career in nursing, she then went on to graduate from St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing.
 Before retiring, Kay was employed by the City of Lowell Health Department as a school nurse.
 Among her many activities, she loved the beach and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Lowell Senior Center.
 Kay is survived by a daughter Joan Nunes and her husband John of Deland, FL; three sons Paul McPhillips and his wife Geraldine of Dunstable, MA, Gary McPhillips and his wife Susan of Lowell and Brian McPhillips and his wife Paula also of Lowell; a daughter-in-law Sandra McPhillips of Deltona, FL; twelve grandchildren Michelle Roun and her husband Nick, Katie Nunes, Lauren McPhillips, Julie McPhillips, Kelly McPhillips, Jillian Ninteau and her husband Michael, Sean McPhillips, Colleen Ofray and her husband Angel, Patrick McPhillips and his wife Kim, Daniel McPhillips and his wife Erin, Adam McPhillips and Maura McPhillips; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 She was also mother of the late John “Jack” McPhillips who died in 2000.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday morning at the PARISH of ST. William J. Walkowicz, Sr., 74, of Lowell, passed away peacefully Tuesday April 24, 2018 at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell with his loving family by his side.

He was the husband of the late Lisa A. (Busby) Walkowicz.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 21, 1944, a son of the late Anthony and the late Michaline (Abucewicz) Walkowicz, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

A proud member of the U.S. Army, Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a member of the 101st Airborne Division.

Prior to his retirement, he was a Supervisor at Courier Corporation where he worked for over 30 years.

Bill lived an active life and enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking and going to the beach, especially Seabrook. However his favorite time was when he was with his family.

He is survived by his daughter Wendy L. Walkowicz of Lowell; a son William J. Walkowicz, Jr. and his wife Amy of Chester, NH; three granddaughters Kayla M. Brogan of Lowell, Jayleigh R. Pirini and Johanna M. Pirini both of Portsmouth, NH; a grandson Joseph E. Orlando, Jr. of Lowell; a great granddaughter Sofia A. Brogan of Lowell; his former wife Alice (DiStasio) Walkowicz of Lowell; a sister Patricia S. Haney of Chandler, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was the father of the late Jillian N. Walkowicz and brother of the late Walter M. Walkowicz.
