Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Brenda E. (Joy) Marshall Slattery, 86, of Rye, New Hampshire, formerly of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the loving wife of Bernard K. Marshall, who predeceased her in 1992, and Charles J. Slattery, who recently predeceased her in January of this year.
Born in Lowell, MA, August 14, 1939, the daughter of the late Alvin Benjamin Joy and the late Helen (O’Hearn) Joy, she attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School in the class of 1957.
Before she retired, Brenda worked as a Customer Service Specialist for Verizon, formerly known as New England Telephone, for over 25 years.
Brenda loved to spend time at the beach in Rye, NH, and wintered in St Petersburg, FL. She was an accomplished artist and member of the Seacoast Art Society. She loved to paint and specialized in oil and watercolors. She created many beautiful paintings of seascapes and scenes of New England and Florida, and her works were displayed in galleries all along the seacoast for people to enjoy. She was also a member of the Rye, NH, Garden Club.
She is survived by four children, Kirk Marshall and his wife Jannis of Chelmsford, MA, Keith Marshall and his wife Marianne of Hudson, NH, Kerry Blazon and her husband David of Lowell, MA, and Kara Bouley and her husband Paul of Chelmsford, MA; seven grandchildren, Lauren Martin and her husband Dan, Sara Blazon, Emma Bouley, Kelly Marshall, Melia Marshall, Benjamin Marshall, and Kailyn Marshall; and a great grandson, Marshall Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Madelyn Bouley, and her sister Martha Joy.
Friends may call on Friday morning April 10, 2026, at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME in LOWELL from 9:30 to 11:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at ST. MARGARET OF SCOTLAND CHURCH in LOWELL at 12 o’clock NOON. Burial to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com.
