Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend

Carolyn M. Delehanty, 63, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 28, 1962, in Lowell, she was the daughter of Donna Delehanty and the late Thomas P. Delehanty, Jr. Carolyn was educated in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1980. She went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from Middlesex Community College and later received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Carolyn dedicated more than 31 years of service as an Administrative Assistant in the Enrollment Department at Middlesex Community College. She loved theater, was actively involved in the theater group Matter of Fact, and was a proud and engaged member of her community.

Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother to her late son, John Michael Delehanty, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond. In his memory, she founded and organized a fundraising scholarship, “A Gift from John,” which supported local students and honored his legacy.

A passionate animal lover, Carolyn volunteered for many years at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm and the Lowell Humane Society.

Besides her mother Donna, she is survived by her three sisters: Maureen E. Smith and her husband Christopher of Hampton, NH; Sheila M. Delehanty of Amesbury, MA; and Christine L. Roberts of Dennis, MA; as well as her brother, Thomas P. Delehanty, III and his wife Nicole of Chandler, AZ. Carolyn is also remembered lovingly by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews—Kory, Katelyn, Chelsey, Daniel, Seamus, Thomas, Matthew, James, Declan, Kody, Casey, and Dempsey—with whom she shared a special bond. She also leaves behind her cherished great nieces and nephew: Eliana, Alexi, Sieann, Haley, Elijah, and Grace.

Carolyn’s warmth, kindness, and deep love for her family and community will be dearly missed.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Lowell General Cancer Center and the hospital’s oncology floor for their exceptional care.

Friends may call on Thursday April 24, 2025, at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME  276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL from 4 to 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Committal Service to be held on Friday morning at ST. PATRICK CEMETERY in Lowell at 11:30 A.M. (Please meet at Cemetery – Graveside - Yard 1).
