Beloved mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister.

Catherine E. Kay (Hannigan) Bergeron, 93, of Lowell, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday March 3, 2023.

She was the loving wife of the late Joseph E. Bergeron, who died on April 9, 2018.

Born on October 7, 1929, in Leominster, MA, the daughter of the late Carl A. and the late Ruth G. (MacMillan) Hannigan, she attended Leominster Schools and graduated from Lowell High School in the class of 1946.

Prior to her retirement at 83, Kay was a school bus driver for A.J. Gagnon Transportation.

Among her many interests, Kay enjoyed traveling, bowling, puzzles, trips to the casino, Spinners baseball games and watching the Boston Red Sox.

However, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kay leaves behind her children James Bergeron and his wife Jeanne, Thomas Bergeron and his wife Jeannine, Catherine Gendron, Gary Bergeron and his wife Juliette, Edward Bergeron and Steven Bergeron as well as her step son Joseph Bergeron Jr. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren C. Rosie, Gillian, Stephen Jon Ramos, Sabrina Richer, Scott, Sara, Danielle McFadden, Brian, Timothy, Nichole Collins, Jessica Goguen, Brittany Martel, Katie, Evan, Richard and Celeste; as well as 19 great-children 1 great-great grandchild. She was also the foster parent to Lisa Marie Hannigan Bartlett and Colleen Hannigan Giroux and sister to James Hannigan.

She was predeceased by her son Richard Bergeron, daughter Terri Anne Bergeron, and step-daughter Patricia Richer and son-in-law David Richer.

Friends may call at the ODONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Wednesday afternoon March 8, 2023, from 4 to 8 P.M. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning, March 9, 2023, at ST. MICHAEL CHURCH in LOWELL at 10 oclock followed by her burial at St. Mary Cemetery.
