Dorothy Ann (Mastacoures) Nelligan

Dorothy Ann Nelligan, age 82, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, December 12. Her daughter, Jennifer, was by her side during her final week and at the moment she passed.

Dotti was born on February 16, 1943, in Lowell, MA to Charles Mastacoures and Alice (Manikas) Anneheim. She is survived by her children, Michael Nelligan and Jennifer Nelligan and her husband, Anuj Moondra, of McLean, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Nelligan, and her brother, Michael Anneheim. She is also survived by many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, and their children and grandchildren.

Dotti will be remembered for her love of sunflowers and rollerblading along the Merrimack River. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, sitting in the sun with a good book and a cooler of water, grapes, and other snacks. She will be most remembered for her strength, particularly in raising her two children after the loss of her husband in 1986.

In her later years, Dotti spent 16 years in assisted living and more than three years in hospice care. Even when hospice determined she was nearing the end of life, she once again defied expectations, holding on for eight additional days. During that time, her children and son-in-law were grateful for the opportunity to be with her, share their love, and say goodbye.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH in LOWELL from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 A.M in the church.
