Francis C. Carroll

Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather;

Francis C. Carroll, 100 years old, of Lowell, Massachusetts and a local educator, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell.

He was the loving husband of the late Katherine M. (Byrne) Carroll who died in 2011.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 17, 1925, the son of the late Francis C. and the late Antoinette (Lamy) Carroll, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Keith Academy, Class of 1943.

Frank continued his education at Boston College receiving his Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Middle English. He later received his Master’s in Education from Salem State Teacher’s College.

A veteran of World War II, Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army facing combat in the Pacific Theatre.

In a career that spanned over 35 years in the Lowell school system, Frank was a schoolteacher first and later the Principal of the Butler Junior High School until his retirement.

A longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, he was active with the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Community Table and the Greater Lowell LIRA. However, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frank is survived by three sons Francis C. Carroll, Jr. of Methuen, Neil J. Carroll and his wife Susan of Nashua, NH and Timothy M. Carroll and his fiancée Amy Morris of Jasper, IN; a daughter-in-law Margarita B. Carroll of Andover; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late John B. Carroll who died in 2011 and brother of the late Gloria M. Dearth.

Friends may call on Friday November 7, 2025, at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL from 4 to 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday morning November 8, 2025, at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH at 10 o’clock.
