Helen (Mitides) Vovakis

Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and niece;
    
Helen (Mitides) Vovakis, 93, of North Andover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Port Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Newburyport, MA.

Born in Lowell, MA, March 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Charles and Georgia (Petroules) Mitides, she attended Lowell grammar schools and graduated from Lowell High School in the class of 1951. 

After high school, Helen attended the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1954.

For over 25 years, she worked as a registered nurse at Tewksbury State Hospital. Previously she worked at Lowell General Hospital, the Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, the Jocelin Hospital, the Clara Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Baptist Health Hospital in Miami, FL, and UPMC in Carlisle, PA. 

In her spare time, Helen enjoyed world events, the news, and talking about politics. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. 

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Foustoukos and her husband Kevin Danahy of Kingston, NH; a grandson, Matthew G. Foustoukos of Kingston, NH; a sister, A. Andrea Christopher and her husband John of South Yarmouth, MA; an aunt, Arlene Arguoyan of Lowell, MA;  step grand children, Michael Foustoukos of Groton, MA, Laurie London and her husband William of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Ryan Danahy of Kingston, NH; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late James Mitides, Nicholas Mitides, and Katherine (Kay) Garabedian.

Friends may call on Thursday morning, October 9, 2025, at HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY, 62 Lewis Street, in LOWELL from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with her Funeral Service to follow in Church at 11:00 AM.
