Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle;
Henry L. Garthe, 82, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband for over 60 years of Linda D. (Brown) Garthe, who survives him.
Born in Acton, MA, December 3, 1943, the son of the late Norman and the late Lillian M. (Bulette) Garthe, he attended Lowell Schools and graduated from Greater Lowell Technical High School.
For over 35 years, Henry worked as a machinist for WH Nichols Company in Waltham, a precision manufacturing company. In addition, he worked at Walls Unlimited and Stop & Shop.
Among his many interests, Henry enjoyed traveling and cooking. His favorite place to be, was with his family.
Besides his wife, Linda, he is survived by three children, Gary K. Garthe of Nashua, NH, Lynne M. Garthe and her husband Neco Alves of Lowell, MA, and George F. Garthe and his wife Kelli of Wilton, NH; eight grandchildren, Melissa C. Hubbard, Austin D. Garthe, Samantha L. Garthe, Henry A. Garthe, Nathan Eliopoulos, Nora Eliopoulos, Stephanie Alves, and Luis Fernando Alves; three great grandchildren, Liam Sweeney, Cyrus Gonzalez, and Lyara Gonzalez; a brother, Reverend Eric O. Garthe and his wife Joanne of Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Janice Shackleford of Wilton, NH, Emilie Milinazzo of Lowell, MA, and Peggy Garthe of Hampton, NH; two sisters-in-law, Aline Brown of FL, and Bonnie Garthe of Westford, MA; a long time family friend, Robert Levesque; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Gary K. Garthe, who passed in infancy and the brother of the late David, Richard, and Donald Garthe and Pamela Ayotte.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in Lowell from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
