James D. Silk
Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and valued colleague;
James D. Silk of Lowell, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday August 27, 2022.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Brust Silk.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1951, he was the son of the late James F. and the late Ann (Nester) Silk.
Jim graduated from Keith Academy in 1969, was educated at MIT, University of Lowell, and earned a PhD from University of Maryland.
After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at University of Pennsylvania, he was employed at the Institute for Defense Analyses in Alexandria, VA.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, Katherine E. Silk and John J. Silk. He is also survived by siblings: John F. Silk (Ruth), Patricia M. Kelley, Susan M. Silk (Geoffrey McDonough), William J. Silk (Marian), Joseph D. Silk (Jean), and David J. Silk (Laurie), numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, including goddaughter Melissa Silk McDonald.
Private memorial services will be held for the family at a later date.
