Joseph Forsythe Obituary

Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle;

Joseph C. Forsythe, 94, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Noreen C. (Murphy) Forsythe, who predeceased him in 2008.

Born in Lynn, MA, February 15, 1932, the son of the late Joseph C., Sr. and the late Ruth (Barras) Forsythe, he received his education in the Lowell School System.

In 1951, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country during the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, and an Air Medal, before being honorably discharged in 1953.

An active member of his community, he was an Assistant Scoutmaster for Lowell Boy Scouts Troop 6 and Troop 12. He was also a proud veteran and was a member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks and the Lowell American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed building models, completing jigsaw puzzles, and gardening.

Joseph is survived by two daughters, Sharon J. Ross and her husband Jeff of Raymond, NH, and Tami A. Forsythe-Collett and her husband Dr. Barry S. Collett of Sharon, MA; two sons, Brian C. Forsythe and his wife Maureen of Lowell, MA, and Gary A. Forsythe of Moultonboro, NH; three grandchildren, Wendy L. Ross, Robert C. Ross and his wife Sarah, and Kyle R. Forsythe; a great granddaughter, Ada Lily Ross; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in Lowell from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. followed by his Committal Services to be celebrated at ST.
