Loving sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend;
Weymouth, MA - Mary Jo Martin, 60, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday morning July 25th, 2025.
Born in Lowell on May 26, 1965, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and the late Margaret “Peggy’ (Mullin) Martin.
Mary Jo was an active member of TILL (Toward Independent Living and Learning). Until her recent illness, she was actively involved in Till’s Day program and enjoyed their daily activities, as well as visiting Castle Island, attending Red Sox games and bowling nights. She loved going out to lunch, especially at her favorite restaurant, the 99. A cheeseburger with fries, diet coke and ice cream for dessert were constant favorites. Mary Jo was also a long-time participant in the Special Olympics where she competed in many different swimming events.
She is survived by her sister Betsy Martin of Lowell, MA, her brother John B. Martin Jr. and his wife Lanie of Dunstable, MA, and her sister Peggy and her husband Scott Krug of Lowell, MA. Mary Jo is also survived by her nieces and nephews - John B. Martin III and his wife Melissa, Devlin and her husband Phil Gauthier, Matthew Krug and his girlfriend Lyndsey McMahon, and Kyle Krug and his fiancé Emma Ryder, as well as her grandniece and nephews, Emily and Eddie Gauthier, and Otis Martin and her special aunt, Mary Sayer. In addition, she is survived by her many cousins that she loved spending birthdays and holidays with and by her longtime housemates Midge, Janice, Terry and Sheila.
Mary Jo was also predeceased by many aunts and uncles.
Her family would like to thank the staff at her home for their loving care of Mary Jo. A special thanks to Linda and Betty with whom Mary Jo shared a special bond with. They would also like to thank the Ryder family of Lexington for their love and care for Mary Jo for many years.
