Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother;
Maureen J. (Scully) Donovan, 86, of Beverly, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Masconomet Rehab and Health Center in Topsfield, MA.
She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Donovan, Jr., who died in 2013.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, July 24, 1939, the daughter of the late Charles and the late Mary (Geary) Scully, she attended Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School.
After high school, Maureen attended the St. Joseph School of Nursing where she earned her Nursing degree. She continued her education at New England College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
For 25 years, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell, MA, as an emergency room nurse. She then worked as a nurse at the Pease Air Force Base in Newington, NH, for 10 years. Before her retirement in 2001, she worked as a case manager for 10 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Among her many interests, Maureen was active with Catholic Charities and enjoyed cooking and gardening. However her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, William J. Donovan, III, and his wife Rachel of Wolfeboro, NH, and Charles J. Donovan of Rollinsford, NH; two daughters, Joanne E. King and her husband Thomas of Peabody, MA, and Patricia M. Kimball and her husband Tyler of Haverhill, MA; twelve grandchildren, Gregory Parker, Lindsay Parker and her husband Jon Ellis, William Donovan, IV, and his wife Julia, Carly Gigi and her husband Ryan, Caitlyn Piskadlo and her husband Ryan, Caroline King and her husband John Giles, Kevin King, Thomas King and his wife Kristi, Kaylee Donovan and her partner Stephen Philbrick, Sydney Donovan and her partner Drew Shute, Gracie Donovan and her husband Jiri Hoffmann, and Micaela Gabriel; and three great grandchildren, John, Lucas, and Michael Piskadlo and Calvin Giles.
She was the grandmother of the late James Donovan and Jeffrey King.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Thursday morning November 6, 2025, at ST. MARY CHURCH in CHELMSFORD at 11 o'clock (Please meet at Church) followed by her burial at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. E-condolences/directions at www.odonnellfuneralhome.com.
