Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle;
Mitchell S. Guziejka, Jr. , 76, a member of a well-known Greater Lowell family, passed away peacefully surrounded by love, with his family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the loving and devoted husband for 55 years to Barbara “Bunny” (Socha) Guziejka, who survives him.
The oldest son of the late Mitchell Guziejka Sr. and Marie (Broadbent) Guziejka, he was born and raised in Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School. Mitchell went on to earn a degree from Bentley University followed by an MBA from Northeastern University.
After completing his education, Mitch continued to reside with the love of his life, Barbara “Bunny” and their children, Mitchell III and Maryalice.
Fortunate to create a career in Finance, Mitchell worked at Digital Corporation for 26 years, and later retiring from Pega Systems. His career brought many wonderful experiences for Mitchell and his family, including several years living abroad in Australia.
Mitchell has traveled the world extensively, and while traveling was a passion, his love was his family. He found joy in watching his family expand over the years including his daughter in law, Kathryn and son in law, Michael, followed by 6 grandchildren. Mitchell’s favorite place to be was sitting on the porch at their cabin on Lake Winnipesaukee, with Bunny by his side and watching their grandchildren grow.
What a wonderful life he lived with a passion for history, travel and learning new things; Mitch was the epitome of a gentle man who always had a kind word for every one he met.
Beginning at a young age, Mitchell lived a life with purpose, contributing to many organizations that support those in need. He was an active participant of the Immaculate Conception Congregation and during his retirement was an alter server alongside his dear friend, Father Nick Sannella. Mitchell has been a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society in Lowell for many years and serving as President at one time.
Mitchell leaves behind many loved ones including his beautiful bride Barbara, his son Mitchell Guziejka III and Kathryn of Dunstable; his daughter Maryalice Zolkos and Michael of Lowell; 6 fantastic grandchildren, Emma R Guziejka, Charlotte H. Guziejka and Dylan M Guziejka of Dunstable; Nolan M Zolkos, Timothy M Zolkos and Charles S Zolkos of Lowell.
