Rona T. (Meehan) Horton

Beloved mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. 

Rona T. (Meehan) Horton, 89, passed away at her home in Lowell on October 22, 2025.

Born on October 26, 1935, in Lowell, MA, Rona was the daughter of the late John and Mary (O’Keefe) Meehan. She was predeceased by her husband James Horton, Sr. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Lowell and received her education at St. Patrick’s School. 

A devoted mother and homemaker Rona stayed home and raised her family. In later years, she worked in hospitality industry at Holiday Inn Tewksbury, and Radisson Chelmsford.

Rona’s house was a place where all were welcome. Her greatest joy was with her family enjoying Sunday supper, barbeques, card games, birthday and holiday celebrations, and cheering on grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She also enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles, and rooting for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. 

Rona is survived by her six children, Pamela Wojtowicz of Lowell, R. Lynn Gagne and her husband Michael of Tyngsboro, James Horton, Jr., and his wife Pamela Polizzotti Horton of Lowell, Kelly Ciccone and her husband James of Pepperell, Cara Horton and her husband Brian Horman of Lowell, and John Horton of Pepperell.

She also leaves behind her 15 grandchildren, William Wojtowicz, Heidi Villandry (and husband Ted), Ryan Gagne, Michael Gagne, Nicole Florez, James Florez, Joshua Horton, Kaitlyn Horton, Nicholas Ciccone, Matthew Ciccone, Anthony Martin, Matthew Martin, Brian Horman, Jr., Courtney Horton, and Justin Horton; 9 great grandchildren, Christopher Villandry, Kaylee Gagne, Rashad and Efrain Herring, Adrianna and Xander Jimenez, Kylie, James and Colton Ryan; her sister-in-law Donna Meehan, and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

She was the sister of the late Catherine Doyle, Stephen Doyle (and wife Eileen), Mary Gagnon, Robert Meehan, Arlene “Peachey” Feeney (and husband Gil), Paul Meehan, James Meehan, and Carolyn Meehan, and her great granddaughter Monique Braccio.

She will be deeply missed by her family.
