Alphonso C. Martin

Beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle;


Alphonso C. “Al” Martin, 79, of Lowell, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Friday May 27, 2022, at his home.

He was the husband of the late Arlene E. (Struble) Martin.

Born on April 27, 1943 in Somerville, MA, the son of the late Alphonso and the late Verna (Lowe) Martin, he attended Medford High School.

Prior to his retirement, Al worked as a Clerk in the meat department at Stop and Shop for over 20 years most recently in Chelmsford, MA. Previously, he owned and operated A&M Vending Company on Cape Cod. He and his wife were longtime residents of Hyannis.

Al is survived by his three children Alan C. Martin and his wife Judi of Plymouth, MA, Donna M. Martin and her wife Nicole Stiling of Lowell, MA, and Keith A. Martin and his wife Elizabeth of Falmouth, MA,; a foster  son Jeff Avery; his brother James Martin and his wife Esther of Switzerland; a sister Pearl Brown of Dracut, MA; Nine grandchildren Kindra, Cara, Kassandra, Devan, Makayla, Jamie, Thomas, Addison, and Maddox; Four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Shih-Tzu Delilah.

Al and his late wife Arlene also raised many foster sons and daughters for over 20 years.

    To Al’s entire family my deepest sympathies. I stumbled upon his obituary because I was looking for my father I have only a brother and my girls so I thought . Goodbye uncle Al wish I had more than one memory of you . I wish Aunt pearl , uncle al and yes my father didn’t leave us like unwanted trash . I apologize for whatever me and Duane did to you guys . To my cousins Durpisinf to find I have tons and tons of family but i have always been so alone . To family If he has not already if my father passes could someone please post something because I look for him often thank you
